Pre-Community Service Leader Contract

Submit the completed contract prior to performing the community service leadership project.

Students who are trained to lead and recruit and supervise at least 5 peers who perform a minimum of 10 hours of service on a specific community service or service-learning project within a semester will receive a Community Service (CS) Leader Certificate and will wear a red cord and be publicly recognized at Commencement. Students who complete a course-related Community Service Leadership project and reflection assignment will receive a “Service-Learning Component” notation under the course title on their academic transcript. Students who complete a leadership project for either a course or a BCC service club, organization or a non-profit agency or organization in the community will receive a “Community Service Leader” notation on their Co-Curricular Community Service Record provided by the Center for Civic Engagement upon request.

The undersigned student agrees to maintain contact with his/her BCC or Community Partner Supervisor and complete the project. If the leadership role is connected to an academic course, the undersigned student also agrees to complete a reflection assignment documenting the project, his/her personal growth in community leadership skills and commitment to future community service. The professor of the course for which the service was performed will complete a Credit Verification form to verify completion of the reflection assignment for a course. The student must complete a Community Service Record in order to receive a red cord and be publicly recognized at graduation.
