This site provides basic tools for doing industry research including links to major sites providing industry data, industry home pages, office tools and more.

IndustryLink

Provides industry related resources on the Internet easily categorized and quickly accessible.  There are Resource Sites designed to provide an abundance of information related exclusively to their particular industry; Commercial Sites and those that provide a high-level of value, called Magnet Sites (generally industry leaders); and General Industry, for companies that provide products and services to a broad range of industries.

Presents timely, accurate data on production and shipments of selected products. The data are used to satisfy economic policy needs and for market analysis, forecasting, and decision-making in the private sector. These surveys measure manufacturing activity in important commodity areas such as textiles and apparel, chemicals, primary metals, computer and electronic components, industrial equipment, aerospace equipment, and consumer goods.

U.S. Bureau of the Census.  North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)

This system (NAICS) has replaced the U.S. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system.  NAICS was developed jointly by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico to provide common industry definitions for these North American countries so as to compare economic and financial statistics and ensure that such statistics keep pace with the changing economy.
