BCC’s Center for business and industry is a comprehensive corporate services and community education resource
The staff specializes in designing customized programs to meet specific training needs of area employers and provides expert consultant and technical assistance. The Center also offers courses in: leadership skills, small business management, entrepreneurship, supervision, personal development, and communication skills. Training can be delivered at the employer’s location or at any Bristol Community College location. Programs consist of college noncredit courses and workshops which carry continuing education units (CEUs). Certificate programs are continuously updated and are listed in the noncredit brochure. We can present computer applications training at a customer’s location, using your equipment, or using BCC’s portable laptop lab. These courses are specifically developed for individual companies and applications.
As a leader in training for emerging computer technologies, the Center provides customized courses in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and engineering software. The Center also offers a wide range of leisure, recreational, and enrichment programs and courses.

Corporate ServicesToday’s rapidly changing technology requires that the skills of employees be continually updated and the Center is committed to assisting organizations in this process. Available options include: specialized and tailored on-site credit instruction, customized skill training, and training for purposes of certification and licensure renewal. Through the Center’s community education and workforce development programs, companies can customize training programs to meet their specific needs and schedules.

Customized Programs
BCC Center for Business and Industry offers flexible options for training delivery. Employees can attend customized classes at a company site, a local conference center, or the Bristol Community

Personal Enrichment Courses offer something for everyone. These courses do not have grades or exams; rather they are life enhancing experiences that take place in a fun, enjoyable environment. At BCC, students of all ages enroll in our courses. Attending is a great way to meet people who have similar interests and talents. Online Courses allow you to learn at home or in the office 24 hours a day seven days a week. You can take courses according to your own schedule and receive input instantly. Latino Immersion Courses provide students the opportunity to experience a culture other than their own. This program, offered in Spanish, is designed to increase the attendees’ Spanish language skills and enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Latin culture. Programs for Youth
Kids College during the summer, offers young people from pre-kindergarten through high school diverse offerings of academic and enrichment classes ranging from remedial courses to recreational activities. Courses encourage the development of new hobbies, interests, and skills.

Center for Adult Basic Education & Workplace Literacy
College degree and certificate programs are only some of the ways BCC offers educational services to the community. For the last 25 years, BCC has provided access to adult basic education instruction. Specialized services include remediation in reading, writing and math, language instruction in English for speakers of other languages and GED preparation and testing services.Instructional options include family literacy, workplace education and individualized tutoring. Students may also take advantage of educational counseling and a variety of extracurricular activities designed for adult learners.
The Center for Adult Basic Education provides intensive training for special populations such as dislocated workers and individuals receiving transitional assistance. Open enrollment and flexible schedules help to meet the needs of parents and workers managing multiple priorities while in pursuit of academic goals.
For practitioners in Adult Basic Education, BCC provides extensive professional development opportunities coordinated by the System for Adult Basic Education Support, a staff development project sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

Adult Basic Education Programs
The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program
The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program assists individuals whose first language is not English. Three levels of instruction are available both in the morning and evening. The program emphasizes speaking and listening fluency for beginners to improve language skills for effective communication in both the workplace and every day life. Adult Basic Education provides instruction for adults interested in upgrading their reading, writing and/or computational skills. GED preparation classes are also available for interested individuals. Pre-GED and GED classes are available morning and evening. Students receive academic counseling and assessment services to determine the curriculum that will best meet their needs. GED Test Center registers individuals who have not completed high school for the General Educational Development examination. BCC is an official testing center for the five-part exam. Contact x2156.
Volunteer Support Programs
BCC coordinates tutor training and support groups for volunteers who wish to work with adult learners enrolled in ABE programs at the College. Workplace Literacy
The Center provides a Workplace Literacy program which offers multi-level courses in reading, writing, math, English for speakers of other languages and GED at company sites. Contact (508) 678-2811 x2368 for more information..
Dislocated Workers Program
The College provides intensive instructional programming for dislocated workers who seek structured schedules that align with state requirements for individuals receiving unemployment assistance. Offered in both ABE and ESOL content areas, classes meet 20 hours a week so that students may gain a combination of remedial education, work readiness training and computer application skills. GED preparation classes are individualized and self-paced. Individuals wishing to attend this trade–approved program must first seek a referral from any of the local Career Centers located in Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford or Taunton. Professional Development
SABES Regional Support Center is a part of a statewide system serving Adult Basic Education practitioners in southeastern Massachusetts. The Center coordinates staff and program development activities, and makes innovative materials available for use in programs.
