Placement Testing

The tests assess your skill levels in reading, writing and mathematics. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with academic background information, are used by college academic advisors to assist you with course selection.

ACCUPLACER tests are adaptive.
This means that the computer automatically determines which questions are presented to you based on your responses to prior questions. This technique selects just the right questions to ask without being too easy or too difficult. Generally students take 1.5-2 hours to finish. Take the tests seriously! Not trying your best may result in placement of courses below your skill level and may not count toward your major.
Testing Fee
There is no fee for testing.
Retests
Students are allowed one (1) retest.
Transfer Credits
Students who have completed previous college-level coursework in English and/or mathematics may be exempt from all or part of the placement testing. An official transcript should be submitted to the Office of Admissions.
