The BCC women's soccer team wins thriller
The Bristol Bees came from behind on Thursday to beat Dean College, a division I school, by a score of 5-3.
Down 0-3 at the half, the offense ignited to score five goals in the last forty-five minutes.
Keeper Cady Furtado turned in a great defense, recording 21 saves. Nadia Rego, Brittany Boss and Angie Cedeno showed tenacious defense and Kimmy Lynch and Chelsea Metivier shined on offense. Metivier scored four goals, earning her a spot among the top scorers in Region 21.
“This was a magnificent game to watch as the BCC ladies played their hearts out,” said athletic director Bev Cambra. “They were at their best. Everyone contributed and I actually think this group became a team today.”
When they met earlier in the season, the Bees fell 5-1 to the Bulldogs. This is the first year that BCC has competed in women’s soccer on any level – club or varsity.
The Bristol Bees play at home next Monday against Bunker Hill Community College at 3:30 p.m. All home games are played at Bishop Connolly High School at 373 Elsbree Street. For more information, visit www.BristolCC.edu/Athletics.
