Lyndon Blakesley ’04 married Danielle Leger on May 27, 2006 at Rachel’s Lakeside in Dartmouth. 

John P. Botelho ’89 is employed by Raytheon Corporation as an IPT Lead.  He and his wife Judith live in Dartmouth.

David R. Castanho ’94 obtained his BS from Roger Williams University and his MBA from Providence College.  He is an Assistant Vice President at Bank of America in Providence, RI, where he does financial and risk analysis for municipal clients.

Bradley P. Hayes '92 is the Utilities Director for the City of Tavares, Florida.  Brad and his wife Valerie recently moved to Grand Island, FL.

Christina Melo ’04 (Secretarial Science ’94) is employed as a Marketing Assistant by Kelly Services.

Lucy Resendes ’92 was named February’s Employee of the Month at Bristol Community College.  Lucy is a Clerk III in the Testing and Assessment department.

Maria J. Soares ’89 is a teacher in the Fall River Public School system.

Theresa “Terry” Vaillancourt ’96 lives in Westport and is employed by Westport Fire & Ambulance as the principal clerk.  She has been with the company five years and is responsible for all billing, insurance, and payroll. 

Child Care

Heidi Walsh ’78 has been appointed cooperative education coordinator at Greater New Bedford Regional Technical High School.  In her new position, she will place students in paid co-op jobs and oversee the school’s Tech Prep and Women in Technology programs.

Joanne Rebello ’97 (Nursing ’01) is a Staff RN/Medical Technologist with Southcoast Hospitals Group.

Louis Culotta ’85 is a Senior Account Executive for WEEI Sports Radio.

Computer Information Systems

Michael Skellinger ’05 was elected to the BCC Alumni Association Board of Directors on May 1.  Michael works for John Hancock Financial Services in the Financial Advising Division located in both Wellesley Hills and Canton, MA.  Michael lives in Taunton.

Criminal Justice

Stephen Foster ’78 is a police officer in Fairhaven, MA.

Evan Kershaw ’04 graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, WA and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army National Guard. 

Jeffrey Leclair ’90, a retired City of New Bedford Police Officer and Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, recently earned his Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and is now completing his residency in Southwest Missouri. Dr. Leclair has also been accepted to medical school and will begin in February 2007.

Matthew Rezendes ’06 started his new job in December working in the BCC Campus Police Department.

F. Patrick Tighe '78 joined the Broward County Sheriff's Office, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1982 and retired in 2002 as a Lieutenant Colonel/Director. He received a BS from Barry University, located in Miami Shores, FL in 1996. He joined the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, in Ft. Pierce, FL in 2002 and currently holds the rank of Major/Director. Patrick resides in Vero Beach, Florida with his wife Cindy (Secretarial Science ’76) of 27 years and their two children. 

Culinary Arts Certificate

Jeffrey Janzekovich ’98 (Business Administration Career ’00) is a corporate chef for Raytheon.  He and his wife live in Swansea. 

Jonathan Oliveira ’98 has been the head chef at the Wamsutta Club in New Bedford for 10 years.  He and his nephew Jarrod Ross, a current BCC student, have started their own catering company, A La Carte Catering, and will move to their own facility in Fairhaven in the spring. 

Culinary Arts

Karin Johnson ‘03 has been employed at The Landings Yacht, Golf and Tennis Club in Fort Myers, FL as the Director of Special Events since August of 2003. She, her husband David, and children David and Elizabeth reside in Cape Coral, FL.

Dental Hygiene

Pamela Buck ’98 is a dental hygienist working in the office of Dr. David Violette, DDS, in West Bridgewater.

Melanie Correia ’99 married David Borges on May 20, 2006 in Fall River.  Melanie is a registered dental hygienist, and she is currently pursuing her masters degree at the University of Rhode Island. 

April (Arruda) Lavoie ’96 is attending the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, where she is working towards her bachelors degree. She and her husband Jimmy live in Fall River with their four year old daughter Julia.

Anne (Beauvais) Souza ’79 is employed by Peter T. Messier & Associates, DDS, as a dental hygienist.

Darlene St. Julien ’06 is a teacher’s aide in the New Bedford Public School system.

Electronic Engineering

Robert Servant ’69 recently retired from the Air Force with the rank of colonel.  He and his wife live in Nebraska.

Elementary Education

Nancy Baptista ’02 received her bachelors degree from Bridgewater State College in 2004.  She now teaches English Immersion classes for the Fall River School Department.

Kerri (Carlson) Testa ’00 and her husband Lenny welcomed their first child, a daughter named Kaelyn Jean, on December 28, 2006.

Engineering Transfer

Scott K. Daggett ’96 is a civil engineer and is employed by Boucher & Heureux Engineering in Westport.

Kenneth Janzekovich ’95 obtained his BS in Engineering from Roger Williams University.  He is a licensed electrician working for Clem’s Electric Company in Barrington, RI.

Ronald Moody ’72 is a Test Engineer at Teradyne, Inc. in New Hampshire.

Fire Science Technology

Mike Arruda ’03 (Business Administration Career ’73) has been with the Fall River Fire Department for 22 years.  He works in the Fire Marshall’s office, where he is the Fire Inspector/Public Education Specialist.  He participates in BCC’s Health Science Fair each October.  He and his wife Janice live in Fall River.

General Studies

Mark R. Jeffries ’00 was confirmed as the Chief Clerk Magistrate of the Massachusetts Housing Court on January 3, 2007.  Mark and his family live in Dartmouth.

Debra Lyne ’06 started her new job at BCC in November as the office assistant for the Experiential Learning Programs. 

Christine Read ’02 is a teacher’s aide in the New Bedford Public School system.

Law Enforcement

Captain Richard Spirlet ’77 heads the Public Information Office for the New Bedford Police Department.  He and his wife Lois ’80 (Pre-Professional) live in Westport.

Liberal Arts

Jan Baptist ’76 was elected President of the Board of Directors for the YWCA of Southeastern Massachusetts in November.  The organization, whose office in New Bedford serves all of the southeastern Massachusetts area, works to eliminate racism and empower women.

Nancy (Furtado) Bednarz ’02 and Matthew Bednarz ’96 (Business Administration Transfer) were married in 2002.  Their first child, daughter Sydney Grace, was born in 2005.  Nancy is employed by Pearson Composites in Warren, RI as an HR Generalist and Matthew is a Business Systems Analyst at Quaker Fabrics.

Mary Senra ’78, who owns and operates Senco Printing Company in Fall River, became an American citizen on December 13.  She passed her citizenship test with flying colors and participated in a naturalization ceremony in Boston with her son proudly taking pictures.

Amy Steen ’98 received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UMASS Dartmouth in 2000 and was a Social Worker at The Sullivan School in Newport, Rhode Island.  She is currently enrolled in the flexible-access, fast track RN-BSN program at UMASS Dartmouth.  Amy resides in Fall River with her household of 3 children, 3 dogs, several cats, and members of her extended family.

Lauren Collins ’85 is employed in Customer Service at Comcast.

Deirdre Keighley ’91 graduated from Roger Williams University in 2002 with a BS in Public Administration and a BA in Social Science.  She is currently employed by Webster Bank in Swansea.

Donald N. Dupuis ’02 is a Quality Assurance Manager at Wardwell Braiding Machine Company whose U. S. office is located in Central Falls, RI.

Charlotte (Wal) Clegg ’72 works for the Mass Rehab Commission in its Fall River office.  She and her husband Frank ’72 (Business Administration Transfer) live in Swansea.

Louise Christian ’79 is an RN Charge nurse at St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol, RI.

Carol Constantine ’92 is the Health Services Coordinator at Bristol Community College.

Lisa Dumont ’91 received her BSN from University of Phoenix.  She is currently working at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and is enrolled in the Master's of Nursing Education program at University of Phoenix.

Maria O. Ferreira ’84 is an RN employed at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Janet Fontaine ’94 is employed as a Clinical Support Nurse at Alden Court Nursing Care Center in Fairhaven.

Linda (Ouellette) Jacobs ’87 received a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from UMASS Dartmouth in 2000.  She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Massachusetts Association of Public Health Nurses and the Massachusetts Nurses Association.  She is employed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in the Epidemiology and Immunization Program as the Regional Immunization Nurse for Southeastern MA. 

Wendy Looker ’00 (Criminal Justice ’90) manages the Center for Treatment and Recovery (CRT), an outpatient Drug Treatment facility she opened in 2003 in Pawtucket, RI.  CERT provides counseling, limited medical services, drug testing, referral and medication replacement therapy.  Wendy and her husband Richard (Criminal Justice ’89), a sergeant on the Swansea Police Department, live in Swansea.

Joanne McGehee ’99 is employed as a Nurse Liaison at Physicians Health Care in New Bedford.

Irene Rego ’01 is on the nursing staff at St. Anne’s Hospital.

Betty Tigano ’89 is on the nursing staff at Morton Hospital in Taunton.

Heather Baptista ’01 recently received her bachelors degree from Roger Williams University.  She now works for a law firm in Taunton.

Beth David ’78 started a newspaper in January 2006, the Fairhaven Neighborhood News.  It is distributed weekly in Fairhaven, New Bedford, Mattapoisett, Acushnet, and Marion.  Before starting the newspaper Beth did freelance writing for the Standard Times.

Crystal Jones ’94 works at LifeStream in New Bedford, MA.

Michelle (Lucas) Dumais ’93 and her husband Joe welcomed their first child Charles James “CJ” Dumais into the family on October 27, 2006.

Rochelle A. Beaulieu ’76 is employed as a secretary at the Fall River firm of O’Neil, Lucey & O’Neil.

Nancy (Wiles) Borges ’68 is a Clinical Assistant at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Elizabeth Garand ’82 is a legal secretary at the Providence law firm of Winograd, Shine & Zacks, PC.  Liz and her husband Roger live in Fall River.

Deborah (Duperre) Ouellette ’82 works for Marchon Eyewear as their Territory Sales Manager.

Robin Riley ’81 (Word Processing ’84) is the Office Manager in the Registrars Office at Bridgewater State College.

Theraputic Massage

Kristy Roussel ’03 started her own business, Gentle Touch Therapeutic Massage in Westport.  The business offers facials, manicures and pedicures, massages, and other treatments.  Kristy welcomed her first child, daughter Jayda, on December 7, 2006.

In Memoriam

Gina M. Almeida ‘89 of Fall River died on February 21, 2007.  She is survived by her daughter Jamie and her special friend, Tafa Awolaju.

James “Jim” Haskins ’69 of Lakeville died unexpectedly on November 18, 2006 at Morton Hospital in Taunton.   Jim was the Director of Membership for the Fall River Chamber of Commerce and had recently become an active alumni volunteer at BCC, helping to organize the Cluster Reunion in June for the classes of 1968, 1969, and 1970.  He leaves a wife and two daughters. 

Gracia C. Rebello ’71 passed away on November 2, 2006. 

Benson C. Spivey ’93 of Westport, MA passed away February 18, 2006.
