Presidential Scholars Program
The Presidential Scholars Program (PSP) is a selective program for high-achieving students who have recently graduated from high school. Presidential Scholars receive expert transfer guidance that will enhance transfer to a competitive college or university including assistance with transcript review, transfer course selection and advisement, college search strategies, college application assistance, and scholarship opportunities. Presidential Scholars can also take advantage of the many transfer articulation agreements available at Bristol.
To qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
- Acceptance to Bristol as a full-time student.
- Competitive SAT scores or placement in the top 20 percent of high school class.
- Interest in transferring to a private and/or competitive institution.
- Recommendation from a guidance counselor or other appropriate high school official.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must pass all Bristol placement tests

Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the world’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious association of community college honor students. Membership in PTK affords access to more benefits than any other student organization. Academic excellence is recognized with the Golden Key Membership Pin, membership certificate, identification card and the privilege of wearing a gold stole at graduation that sets apart Phi Theta Kappa members. In addition, members are eligible to apply for designated PTK scholarships. To be considered for membership in Bristol’s local chapter, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.50, be enrolled in a degree program and have earned 24 credits at Bristol.
Commonwealth Honors Program
The Commonwealth Honors Program (CHP) at Bristol offers intellectually challenging experiences to highly motivated and gifted students in every discipline. The program allows students to customize the honors experience to meet their own individual needs and desires. Students have the opportunity to work one-on-one with faculty members, crafting intellectually stimulating experiences. CHP Scholars receive a cash recognition award equal in value to 15 credits of in-state tuition and fees.

Civic Engagement
Service-Learning matches student learning experiences and career goals with community needs. Students work with a faculty member to create a volunteer project or activity within a Bristol course. The goal is to address real community needs and use the activity to earn academic credit. Service-Learning gives students the chance to help others, develop marketable, résumé-building skills, and become more informed citizens.
