Vision to Reality: Science Fiction Authors and Our Relationship with Technology

Event Description
Join Professor Michael Geary for an engaging exploration into the world of science fiction literature, the ethics of technology, and the future of learning. William Gibson’s “Neuromancer,” Neal Stephenson’s “Snow Crash,” and Ernest Cline’s “Ready Player One” will be used as a frame to look at both our current reality and our projected future. Were these author accurate? Has technology impacted us more positively than negatively as a society?

Participants will be entered to win one of six science fiction classics!

This session presented in conjunction with the celebration of 20 years of eLearning to provide a forum for conversations on the past, present and future of learning technologies.
