Event Description
In the feature documentary Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North, filmmaker Katrina Browne discovers that her New England ancestors, the DeWolf family, were the largest slave-trading family in U.S. history. James DeWolf Perry, one of the descendents of that family, will discuss the making of the documentary and his family’s “remarkable journey which brings them face to face with the history and legacy of New England’s hidden enterprise,” the slave trade which helped to enrich the region and this country. Note:there will be three presentations, one at 10 a.m., one at 11 a.m., and one in the afternoon in New Bedford.
