Nursing Advanced Standing program options

Using the Advanced Standing Options, current Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) may qualify for admission into the nursing program and receive credit for past classes or work experience to help them graduate sooner.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Bridge program

Currently practicing Licensed Practical Nurses who have graduated within the past three years from qualifying schools may be eligible for admission into the BCC Nursing Program.

    Qualifying Schools:
  • Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School
  • Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School
  • Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School
  • Southeastern Regional Practical Nursing Program
  • Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School

To qualify for the program, applicants must have taken and passed the following courses with a grade of B– or greater:

  • High School Algebra & Chemistry
  • CSS 101 College Success Seminar
  • ENG 101 Writing from Experience
  • BIO 233 Human Anatomy and Physiology I
  • PSY 101 General Psychology
  • BIO 234 Human Anatomy and Physiology II
  • PSY 252 Child Development - (Any Growth & Development course taken at the LPN schools listed earlier could also apply)

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is not required for this program.

How it works:
Students selected to participate in the Bridge program are required to pass a three-week course of study to reinforce fundamental nursing conceptsp

After successful completion, students will be awarded 16 credits for NUR 101 and NUR 102, and are then eligible for entrance into the third semester of the nursing program, and the nursing course NUR 201 Nursing Care of the Adult I.

Please note: Students must satisfy all curriculum requirements to obtain an Associate Degree in Nursing. Additional insurance, professional, and health screenings may be required to meet Nursing Program requirements. Please see the academic catalog for a complete listing of requirements.

Apply Before April 1
Priority is given to those student who apply before April 1 for the next academic year. Applications are only complete when all requirements listed above are fulfilled. Selection is competitive and based upon academic record and space available.
