Performance Evaluation

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

The purpose of the performance evaluation is to help the employee be aware of how his/her performance is viewed by the supervisor and to provide a basis of discussion so that the employee can improve his/her performance where necessary, plan personal developmental goals, and set work and performance goals. Satisfactory evaluations are essential to continuing employment. Bristol Community College encourages employees and their supervisors to also discuss job performance and goals on an informal, day-to-day basis. 

Unit Professional

The performances of employees in this position classification are evaluated each year on forms provided under the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC). Individuals responsible for completing these evaluations must become familiar with the contractual language and must complete performance evaluations within specified time-frames.

Non-Unit Professional

The performances of employees in this position classification are evaluated each year on forms and following procedures established by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and described in the Non-Unit Professionals Policy Handbook. Individuals responsible for completing these evaluations must become familiar with the language and requirements in the Handbook and must complete performance evaluations within specified time-frames.

Classified (Clerical, Facilities & Security)

The performances of employees in this position classification are evaluated each year on forms provided under provisions of the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 93. Individuals responsible for completing these evaluations must become familiar with the contractual language and must complete performance evaluations within specified time-frames. The employee will receive a copy of the evaluation and may file a written statement in response to this evaluation. The evaluation and any comments will become a permanent part of the employee’s Human Resources Office history file.

Non-Unit Classified

The performances of employees in this position classification will be conducted in a manner consistent with those of Classified employees.

Faculty

The performances of employees in this position classification are evaluated each year on forms provided under the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC). Individuals responsible for completing these evaluations must become familiar with the contractual language and must complete performance evaluations within specified time-frames.

Adjunct Faculty

The performance of employees in this position classification are evaluated each year in accordance with the agreement for the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC).

The performances of employees in this position classification are not formally evaluated.

Part-Time Non-Benefitted

Grant-Funded

The performances of employees in full-time grant-funded positions are evaluated in accordance with the specific provisions of the relevant grant. The performances of employees in part-time grant-funded positions are not formally evaluated.
