Is a Late Start Pathway right for me?

While Late Start Pathways are a great opportunity for new students to enroll in spring courses, it is best to find out if you are the right fit for this unique option. Please review the list of qualifications below to see if a pathway is right for you. If so, you must attend a Late Start Pathway enrollment event to prepare for the semester and register for your classes. If you feel late start is not for you, we encourage you to meet with admissions to talk about enrolling in courses in the fall.

Before signing up for a Late Start Pathway enrollment event, you should confirm that you meet these criteria:

  1. I am a new, admitted student with no previous college credits.

The courses offered in this pathway are designed for admitted students who are just starting out on their college journey.

  2. I am interested in taking the available Late Start Pathway classes.
Bristol is offering a variety of Late Start Pathway courses at the Fall River and New Bedford locations in the afternoons and evenings. Please refer to this schedule to see if you are interested in enrolling in any of these courses. Be sure to look at the dates and times the courses are offered to see if you are available.

Late Start courses available this Spring include:

    General Psychology (PSY 101)
    Fundamental Statistics (MTH 119)
Composition 1: College Writing (ENG 101)
Basic Writing Skills (ENG 090) Fall River only
Fundamentals of Public Speaking (COM 101)
College Success Seminar (CSS 101) New Bedford or online

  1. I am prepared to take a placement test.
If you have qualifying placement test scores or are exempt, you won’t have to test again. However, if you haven’t tested, you are required to test at the Late Start Pathway enrollment event so we can place you in the right courses. You can prepare for testing using our placement test prep materials.

  1. I have been awarded Financial Aid or I am prepared to pay for my classes.
If you have already been awarded financial aid from Bristol, that’s great! We can apply your award to your courses after you register. If you haven’t applied or are waiting for your package to be completed, you will need to pay for your tuition and fees at the time of registration. You may either pay in full at the enrollment event (online via credit/debit card or e-check) or you may set up a NelNet Campus Commerce payment plan after putting down a 33% down paymentLearn more about ways to pay.

  1. I can attend a Late Start Pathway enrollment event.
To ensure our students are set up for success, registration into any of the Late Start Pathway courses can only take place during one of the late start enrollment events. You must register for one of these events in advance. No walk-ins, please. Dates and registration information is listed below.
