Online Primary Sources in the American History Classroom

Future History emphasizes the use of primary sources in teaching American history. This course, which meets one day a week during the Spring 2006 semester, will be offered again in 2007 and 2008. The course will;
  1. Increase teachers’ skills in using primary sources in the classroom
  2. Build a collective electronic library of annotated primary sources for classroom use
  3. Help educators become comfortable and competent with the latest classroom technology

Teachers completing the course will receive three graduate credits and all books and materials. The grant will also purchase and pay for the installation of a high-speed internet-projection systems for use in the teachers’ classroom.

A complete application for admission to the course includes a resume, two letters of support and a brief essay. This application is similar to that of the application for admission to the MAT program at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. The course counts towards the completion of this degree.

Application for the final semester, to begin in January 2009, of the graduate course, Online Primary Sources in the American History Classroom, will be available in November 2008. Check back in the near future for updates.
