For the student who is looking for additional support, or who is contemplating the seriousness of things like current behavior, emotional state, substance use, relationship problems, and stress, may wonder what the best help may be. These recourses can be a useful starting point to finding the best possible support or care for an individual’s needs.
No one has to go through this alone. Counseling Services is available to help students navigate the choices for care and support and to provide direct counseling and referrals to meet a student’s needs.
Mental Health and Wellness
Mental health is a key part of your overall health. Brief screenings are the quickest way to determine if you or someone you care about should connect with a mental health professional - they are a checkup from your neck up. This program is completely anonymous and confidential, and immediately following the brief questionnaire you will see your results, recommendations, and key resources.
Find information about various mental health issues/disorders, tips for overall wellness, how to help a friend with mental illness, and links to immediate help. Hotlines and resources provided for suicide prevention, dating abuse, LGBTQ support, Veterans, and treatment referrals.
The Jed Foundation and mtvU partner to provide mental health resources that initiate a public dialogue to raise awareness about the prevalence of mental health issues and to connect students to the appropriate resources to get help. Some of the information is focused on normalizing feelings and providing facts about mental health issues, identifying the problem and offering “how to feel better” information, helping a friend, getting involved. Recognizable athletes, musicians, actors/actresses talk about their own mental health issues.

The Massachusetts Coalition against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence. Resources provided for victims and survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking, for LGBTQ, immigrants, teens, elders, people with disabilities, batterers and sex offenders, and children exposed to battering.
Prevention of sexual abuse and domestic violence. Provides podcasts, viewable conferences, and e-learning opportunities
GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project. Locate support for sexual assault, domestic violence, legal advocacy and counseling.
