2025 Exhibitions Ranked in South Coast's Best Art of 2025

Bristol Community College’s Grimshaw-Gudewicz Art Gallery was ranked twice in “The South Coast’s best art of 2025” by Don Wilkinson for New Bedford Light. The 2025 exhibitions highlighted are Bearing Witness: A Sea of Buttons in Memory of the Holocaust’s Youngest Victims and I See Myself in You: Paintings by William Collin.
Bearing Witness was an exhibition that shared the remarkable story of a years-long community initiative to collect 1.5 million buttons – each symbolizing a Jewish child murdered during the Holocaust. Wilkinson remarks, “It reminded me of the large-scale paintings of the abstract expressionist painter Jackson Pollock, a tactile field of color and shadow and depth, in which one could be immersed. It was a universe unto itself.”

I See Myself In You featured emotionally resonant, vividly layered acrylic portraits, depicting the interior lives of Black men and boys with depth, complexity and care. Reflecting on William Collin and his work, Wilkinson states. “Collin’s work, and I would go so far as to say his ethos itself, manages to be deeply personal, culturally specific, and positively universal, all at once.”
