This year we are pleased to announce that the Annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition returns to the gallery!

The show features works made by students currently enrolled in courses in the fine and applied arts programs at Bristol Community College. As a capstone event of the academic year, it is an opportunity for students to participate in the professional practice of preparing works for display, navigating submission requirements, and then waiting to find out if their works have been accepted for exhibition.

Our gallery staff assistant, Rathary Mateus, took on the role of Juror this time around. Rathary is a graduate of Bristol’s Graphic Design Transfer Program and, in addition to her work at the gallery, is also a free lance designer.

“Seeing the students’ artwork, I reminisced on my own days as a student at Bristol. I thought about the times, as a Graphic Design major, I too entered artwork for the annual exhibition.

As I read through all the image descriptions and assignments, everything felt very familiar. Selecting works for the exhibition conveyed a full circle—the ending of one journey and the beginning of the next.

I am so pleased to see the return of the exhibition to the Art Gallery. As a capstone event of the academic year—for students and for me—it is an event worth waiting to view."
—Rathary Mateus

Forty-nine students submitted work for consideration and Rathary chose 82 pieces for this year’s culminating show. As is our tradition, the promotional image for the annual show is designed by the gallery's student intern. This year’s design is by Amaya Rosario.
