The Grimshaw-Gudewicz Art Gallery’s annual juried art and design exhibition provides students with an opportunity to showcase their creative accomplishments and gain valuable experience in preparing and presenting artwork in a professional context. This includes aspects such as framing, installation, descriptive statements, and interacting with viewers during opening receptions or other gallery events.
Beyond the public display of artwork, being selected for a juried exhibition can often be a source of motivation and encouragement for students to continue pursuing their artistic careers. It also provides recognition within the academic community and beyond, which can be particularly beneficial for students considering further education or seeking opportunities in the art and design world.
This year the gallery collaborated with students from Bristol Associate Professor of Art and Graphic Design David Graves’ Art 292 Design Studio class to create the concept for this year’s promotional materials. The design team developed a whimsical take on the delivery and pick up of artwork from the gallery, and incorporated many of the visual ideas presented in the first round of designs into the final illustration.
Please join us as we celebrate everyone’s contributions to the 2024 Annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition at Bristol Community College. The reception is on Thursday, April 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. and the exhibition continues through Saturday, May 18, 2024.
