Thinking about college as your next step after earning your high school equivalency or completing your English studies?   

Through the Transition to College Program, adult education students can start on the path to earning a certificate or degree program at Bristol Community College. Scroll down to learn more about the program and to find out how to enroll.

Program Description

The Adult Education Transition to College program provides a foundation of services that assists adult education students in their transition to certificate and degree programs at Bristol and throughout their first year in college. The Transition Program provides adult learners a combination of College for Success courses held in a cohort model as well as paid tuition for four additional college courses towards a student’s chosen degree or certificate program. Transition support services include assistance with college admissions and financial aid, program workshops focusing on student success, and individualized monthly advising leading to both academic and career goal development.

Eligibility

To enroll in the program, students must have:

  • Earned a State Approved High School Equivalency Credential (GED or HiSET)
  • Earned a High School Diploma through an Adult Diploma Program.
  • Completed English as Second Language classes at an adult education program.

*Current adult education students are eligible to enroll in concurrent enrollment courses offered through the Transition to College Program.

Program Services

*All services are provided at no cost to students.

  • Assistance through the college admissions and enrollment process.
  • Six free college courses
    • College Success Seminar (1 credit)
    • Technology Tools for College Success (3 credits)
    • Four courses towards student’s chosen degree or certificate program. (total 12 credits)
  • Monthly program workshops focusing on student success
  • On-going Academic Support
    • Weekly check-ins
    • Monthly meetings
      • Introduction to on-campus academic and support services, clubs, and organizations.
      • Check-in on courses and managing workload.
      • Address academic and personal challenges by providing resources and making referrals.
      • Assist with academic planning, course selections, and choosing academic programs.
