Bristol prohibits discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth, termination of pregnancy, lactation, related medical conditions, and recovery. The Plan also recognizes protections related to parenting status and parental leave. Please use this Request for Pregnancy-Related Accommodations Form to discuss your rights and protections with the Title IX Coordinator.

Student support

Contact Johanna.Bielawski@BristolCC.edu or DiversityTitleIX@BristolCC.edu to discuss how pregnancy or a related condition affects your participation. Possible adjustments include breaks for health needs or lactation, medical-appointment absences, changes to schedules or course sequencing, deadline extensions or rescheduled exams, seating or space adjustments, elevator access, and other reasonable changes.

A student may request a voluntary leave for at least the medically necessary period and reinstatement upon return, including return to the status held when the leave began. The Coordinator will discuss the adjustments needed for your particular courses, program, and circumstances.

Employee and applicant support

The Coordinator engages in a timely, good-faith interactive process for employee or prospective employee pregnancy-related requests. Possible accommodations include lactation breaks, modified schedules, seating or equipment, help with manual labor, temporary transfer, job restructuring, or time off. Decisions consider the essential job functions and the Plan’s limits. Support to employees is usually done in conjunction with Human Resources as they handle matters involving leave, benefits, and employment administration.

Lactation access

Students and employees may request access to a clean, private lactation space that is not a bathroom. Employees may also request reasonable lactation break time. Contact the Title IX Coordinator for access arrangements at your location and to discuss scheduling needs.
